Sesame biscuits

Spectacularly unspectacular – that’s how you can describe these Lebanese sesame biscuits in a nutshell. But once you start crunching, there’s no stopping you. The next biscuit is already smiling delightfully.

I have to admit that I am not the most passionate baker. I like to bake cakes, but I rarely bake biscuits. Mostly, in fact, only at Christmas time. Then some friends approach me and want to have a cosy Sunday with coffee and baking biscuits together. Christmas pop songs included – “Last christmas I gave you my heart …”

Well, is the catchy tune already there? Hahaha!
Okay, let’s move on to these delicious sesame biscuits from Levant. The dough is really quick to make. You don’t even have to roll out the dough and cut it out.

Just form a ball of dough, flatten it a little and then dip it into a whole sea of sesame seeds. Then put it in the oven. No pretty decorations, no glitter beads, sugar stars or chocolate drops. After about 15 minutes, the biscuits are fresh out of the oven.

The best part? The sesame seeds are roasted in the oven on the biscuits and gain an enormous aroma. Not only will you smell this all over your home, but you’ll taste it anew with every biscuit.
