And especially on cold days, that&#8217;s what I want &#8211; and what many others want too. So that everyone can enjoy this legume dish, this <strong>chickpea stew recipe<\/strong> is vegetarian.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-quick-and-easy-to-prepare-chickpea-stew\">Quick and easy to prepare chickpea stew<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When I get that certain hunger for something real, genuine and warm, it has to be <strong>home cooking<\/strong>. And definitely a good portion of <strong>buttered rice<\/strong> to go with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How good that this chickpea stew fulfills all the criteria listed and leaves me in bliss afterwards, having wrapped me in a warm blanket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t need very many ingredients for this simple stew recipe. You probably have most of them in your store cupboard. I always have a few chickpeas on hand &#8211; either <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/freeze-chickpeas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">frozen<\/a>, in a jar or dried (which I tend to use for falafel).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also have a bottle of strained tomatoes in the cupboard and I always have garlic there anyway. Is it similar for you? Then you can get started right away. Here&#8217;s a short checklist of the basic ingredients, which you&#8217;ll find in the recipe card with the exact details:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chickpeas:<\/strong> preferably pre-cooked, which you only need to rinse briefly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Garlic:<\/strong> if you prefer a subtle garlic flavor in your stew, use fresh garlic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Coriander:<\/strong> fresh and lots of it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Olive oil:<\/strong> which you can use for frying.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tomato paste<\/strong> and <strong>strained tomatoes:<\/strong> preferably from a jar rather than canned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spices:<\/strong> sweet aromas such as cinnamon, allspice and cardamom give the dish a warm note.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you got all the ingredients for the chickpea stew? Then tie on your apron and get all the food together to start cooking straight away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chickpea-stew-the-easy-way-to-prepare-it\">Chickpea stew &#8211; the easy way to prepare it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This quick and warm dish is perfect for <strong>after-work cooking<\/strong>. And if you have a portion left over, you can simply take it to work the next day as a <strong>meal prep<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chickpea stew with buttered rice is a vegetarian <strong>comfort food<\/strong> that is actually vegan. For the <strong>vegan version<\/strong>, simply swap the butter for a plant-based alternative or simply omit the side dish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To prepare, first gather all the ingredients, peel and chop the vegetables.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then fry the garlic, add the tomatoes and spices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then add the chickpeas and coriander to the pan and simmer for approx. <strong>30 minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I served this deliciously aromatic stew with buttered rice. It also goes well with <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/butter-bulgur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">buttered bulgur<\/a> or some <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/turkish-flatbread\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flatbread<\/a>. If you don&#8217;t need a side dish at all, you can simply leave it out and enjoy the <strong>chickpea stew<\/strong> on its own.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So if the cold is creeping up your limbs, then I recommend this fantastic stew with a Levantine touch.
