The milk cream is hardly sweetened at all, as it is always sweetened with plenty of sugar syrup afterwards. However, ashta does not necessarily have to be hidden in a pastry. The milk pudding is also a delicious <strong>dessert<\/strong> on its own, especially with passion fruit and honey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-ashta\">What is Ashta?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally, ashta is <strong>not<\/strong> really a milk pudding, but rather a homemade <strong>creamy custard<\/strong> that is very similar to Italian mascarpone. So, if you have plenty of time, you can heat up fresh milk and skim off the skin that forms on the surface over and over again, flavor it and puree it. But honestly, who does that? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another variant is to heat <strong>milk<\/strong> with <strong>cream<\/strong> and separate the whey by adding a little <strong>vinegar<\/strong>, then <strong>skim<\/strong> off the separating <strong>cream<\/strong> and pour it into a sieve. It&#8217;s easier, but still more work than it should be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make it really easy for yourself and make an &#8220;<strong>Ashta Kisbeh<\/strong>&#8220;. The name means something like &#8220;<strong>Fake Ashta<\/strong>&#8220;. The cream tastes very similar to the original, but is actually more of a pudding. All you need is <strong>milk<\/strong> and <strong>cornstarch<\/strong>. The pudding is then flavored with rose and <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/orange-blossom-water-guide\/\">orange blossom water<\/a> to give it that typical taste &#8211; and that&#8217;s it. There is actually very little sugar, as we prefer to give the milk pudding a sweet <strong>topping<\/strong> with <strong>honey<\/strong> and <strong>passion fruit<\/strong> afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-milk-pudding-quick-and-easy-dessert\">Milk pudding \u2013 quick and easy dessert<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you make ashta using this pudding method, it has the advantage that you can turn it out. Just like <strong>panna cotta<\/strong>. But of course you don&#8217;t have to. You can also serve everything in a dessert bowl. Ashta is ready really quickly using this method and can be topped to your heart&#8217;s content once it has cooled. The milk pudding is also ideal for filling pastries or as a cream for dessert toppings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mom even has ashta with honey and nuts for <strong>breakfast<\/strong>. Here, however, I opted for beautiful and super fruity <strong>passion fruit<\/strong> aka <strong>maracuja<\/strong>. Simply cut open, pour over the milk pudding and season with honey and a little mint &#8211; it&#8217;s probably never been so easy to conjure up such a visually and tastefully spectacular dessert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-do-you-prepare-ashta\">How do you prepare ashta?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You only need a handful of ingredients for this pudding variation, because ashta is <strong>quick<\/strong> and <strong>easy<\/strong> to prepare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All you need for the <strong>pudding base<\/strong> is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whole milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cornstarch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vanilla<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.de\/Chtoura-Garden-Orientalisches-Bl%C3%BCtenwasser-Aromatisierung\/dp\/B08B4Z19XX\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Chtoura+Garden&amp;qid=1707137983&amp;sr=8-1\">Rose floral water<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orange blossom water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You probably have everything you need in your store cupboard and can get started straight away:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bring the milk to the boil. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stir in the vanilla and sugar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pour the cornflour into the milk while stirring until the pudding thickens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refine the ashta with rose petal and orange water and leave to cool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tips-for-preparation\">Tips for preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To make the ahsta even <strong>creamier<\/strong>, you can also use <strong>50\/50<\/strong> <strong>milk<\/strong> and <strong>cream<\/strong>. However, bear in mind that the <strong>nutritional information<\/strong> changes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can prepare the pudding <strong>the day before<\/strong> and garnish with fresh toppings when serving. It will keep for approx. <strong>1-3 days<\/strong> in the fridge. It is best to pour it into <strong>sterile<\/strong> jars while still <strong>hot<\/strong> and screw on a lid. This also <strong>prevents<\/strong> a skin from forming on the pudding. However, it can happen that the <strong>bond<\/strong> between the milk <strong>protein<\/strong> and the <strong>starch<\/strong> weakens and the cream becomes more <strong>liquid<\/strong> again or forms a <strong>film<\/strong> on top. If this is the case, you should no longer use the milk pudding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go wild with the <strong>toppings<\/strong>! Passion fruit is a good addition due to its acidity, but is not always in season and is not regional. In <strong>summer<\/strong>, some <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/apricot-jam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apricot jam<\/a>, <a
