Wondering if you can freeze tzatziki<\/strong>? <\/strong>So I ask myself: why… do you have any left over? Ok, let’s assume you’ve prepared a large quantity or just want to stockpile. I’ll tell you if and how you can freeze tzatziki and what you should look out for. <\/p>\n\n

Freezing tzatziki: it’s so easy<\/h2>\n\n

In short: yes, you can freeze tzatziki – there’s just one small catch. Freezing may change the consistency of the tzatziki and the ingredients may separate. This is because yogurt and cucumber contain a lot of water, which separates from the fat when frozen. This is why your tzatziki may be a little runnier after defrosting. But this is easy to fix. I’ll show you how to do this under “How to defrost tzatziki properly”. <\/p>\n\n

To freeze tzatziki, follow my simple steps:<\/p>\n\n

  1. Pack well:<\/strong> Fill the tzatziki into a freezer bag or an airtight container. It is best to label it so that you know when you have frozen the portion. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Freeze in small portions:<\/strong> This way you only defrost as much as you need and avoid having to throw anything away at the end.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. You can then freeze <\/strong> the airtight tzatziki in the freezer <\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    What is the shelf life of frozen tzatziki?<\/h2>\n\n

    Your tzatziki will keep in the freezer for around 2 to a maximum of 3 months<\/strong>. After that, the taste and consistency will deteriorate. <\/p>\n\n

    How to defrost tzatziki properly<\/h2>\n\n

    It is best to leave the frozen tzatziki to defrost slowly in the fridge<\/strong>. If it has separated a little, stir it well again before eating<\/strong>. If the defrosted tzatziki is too runny, you can thicken<\/strong> it again<\/strong> with a spoonful of Greek yogurt<\/strong>. If you need it quicker, you can also defrost the frozen tzatziki in a bain-marie. <\/p>\n\n

    My tip: <\/em><\/strong>After defrosting, the flavor may diminish slightly. If this happens, simply season it again. A dash of lemon juice, salt and pepper work wonders! <\/em><\/p>\n\n
