It is a simple recipe that is incredibly tasty because it is creamy, spicy and crispy. Whether as a main course, finger food or an addition to a buffet &#8211; the <strong>spinach-filled b\u00f6rek<\/strong> tastes fantastic and is perfect for any occasion.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-borek\">What is B\u00f6rek?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>B\u00f6rek<\/strong> is a dish that is prepared with yufka dough. The shape and filling can vary. You may be served <em>b\u00f6rek<\/em> or <em>burek<\/em> wrapped up as a snail, as a piece from a tray or from a casserole dish, as a roll or as a pocket. For example, I have layered the <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/boerek-with-minced-meat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">b\u00f6rek with minced meat<\/a> as a casserole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mostly savory filling can consist of cheese, potatoes, minced meat or spinach and feta. Of course, there are other variations and the <strong>b\u00f6rek recipe<\/strong> also changes depending on the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00f6rek originates from Turkey, but is also part of the cuisine in parts of the Balkans, Arab countries and Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-you-need-these-simple-ingredients-for-borek-with-spinach\">You need these simple ingredients for b\u00f6rek with spinach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can now also get b\u00f6rek in various bakeries. However, it just doesn&#8217;t taste as good there. The dough is not crispy and the pastry generally has very little flavor. So there are only two options: you fly to Turkey and feast your way through the tasty world of b\u00f6rek or you stay at home and go on a culinary journey in your kitchen. And by that I mean put on your apron and make your own b\u00f6rek with spinach!    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need ingredients that you can find in any well-stocked supermarket. For the <strong>vegan version<\/strong>, you can simply replace all dairy products with <strong>plant-based<\/strong> foods. The yufka dough you need for the spinach b\u00f6rek is vegan and you can adjust the other ingredients accordingly.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a little more time, you can also make the <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/yufka-dough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">yufka dough yourself<\/a>. This is because homemade dough is a little more elastic than the ready-made dough and you can roll it into a <strong>B\u00f6rek snail<\/strong> more easily later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need the following ingredients for the sauce:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yogurt (10% fat)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whole milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Egg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt, pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And for the B\u00f6rek snail:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Onion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garlic clove<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spinach leaves (frozen)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feta cheese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yufka dough (ready-made dough)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Egg yolk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Black cumin seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sesame<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt, pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also prepare the spinach-filled b\u00f6rek with <strong>fresh<\/strong> spinach leaves or baby spinach. However, you should blanch it first so that it loses its water and the b\u00f6rek doesn&#8217;t get soggy. That&#8217;s why I like to bring them to brunch invitations, because they are relatively easy to prepare &#8211; even if it doesn&#8217;t look like it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to divide my recipes into rough steps so that you know what you have to do and can organize your time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The sauce: <\/strong>Melt the butter and mix with the yogurt, milk and egg. Add the spinach, garlic and spices and saut\u00e9 until the water has evaporated. Twist the roll into a snail and add more spinach rolls to form a large snail.
