Let yourself be tempted by my <strong>Arabic dessert recipe<\/strong> and enjoy the flavors of the Levant.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-was-ist-halawet-el-jibn\"><strong>What is Halawet el Jibn?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Halawet el Jibn<\/strong>&#8221; translates from Arabic as &#8220;sweetness of cheese&#8221;. This <strong>Arabic dessert<\/strong> originally comes from <em>Syria<\/em>, particularly from the city of <em>Hama<\/em>, and is very popular in many countries in the Levant, including Lebanon. <\/p>\n\n<p>The Arabic dessert consists of small rolls or pockets made from a <strong>sweet dough <\/strong>with<strong> semolina <\/strong>and<strong> cheese<\/strong>, filled with <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/ashta-milchpudding-mit-passionsfrucht\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ashta<\/a> (a mild pudding) and poured over with a fragrant sugar syrup refined with <strong>rose and orange blossom water<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-halawet-el-jibn-susse-verfuhrung-aus-der-levante\">Halawet el Jibn: Sweet seduction from the Levant<\/h2>\n\n<p>This Arabic <strong>cheese dessert<\/strong> is a real insider tip &#8211; creamy, floral and irresistibly delicious. If you want to serve your guests something really special, try this dessert &#8211; they will love it. <\/p>\n\n<p>The list of ingredients is not that long, but it does include a few special features such as <strong>orange blossom water<\/strong>, <strong>rose blossom water<\/strong> and <strong>mastic<\/strong>. Mastic is a tree resin that is used for making chewing gum or cosmetics as well as in the kitchen. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Mastic<\/strong> tastes slightly <strong>bitter<\/strong> at first, when it unfolds its aroma it tastes slightly <strong>bitter<\/strong> and somehow a bit like <strong>pine needles<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>To make the Arabic dessert, you need the following ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pudding ingredients<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Milk:<\/strong> Whole milk for more flavor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cream<\/strong>: makes the pudding creamy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mozzarella:<\/strong> use the balls, not the grated cheese, otherwise the consistency will change too much.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cornflour:<\/strong> to thicken the pudding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mastic:<\/strong> only use <strong>optionally<\/strong>. If you don&#8217;t like it, just leave it out <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sugar:<\/strong> for the syrup and the dough<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Soft wheat semolina:<\/strong> as the fine semolina is more suitable for the dough.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rose water and orange blossom water<\/strong>: to flavor the sugar syrup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pistachios: <\/strong>ground or chopped for garnish. However, I really like the slightly tart note in the sweet dessert. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-so-machst-du-das-susse-dessert-der-levante\">How to make the sweet dessert of the Levant<\/h2>\n\n<p>When I tried Halawet el Jibn for the first time, I was intrigued and it reminded me of <a href=\"https:\/\/bistrobadia.de\/en\/knefeh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Knefeh<\/a>, which is also made with cheese. For those unfamiliar with cheese in desserts, the ingredient list may sound confusing, but have faith &#8211; you won&#8217;t taste the mozzarella.
