Harr Usbah Fladenbrot in Tomatensauce

Ingredients

  • 4 Lebanese flatbreads
  • 500 ml Strained tomatoes or tomato pulp
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 2 TSP dried mint
  • 2 TBSP Tomato paste
  • 100 ml Water
  • 5 TBSP Olive oil
  • 1/2 TSP Cinnamon
  • Salt, pepper

Zubereitung

  • Tear the pita bread into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  • Peel and finely dice the onion.
  • Peel the garlic and crush it in a mortar.
  • Heat the olive oil in a pot and fry the chopped onion in it for approx. 5 minutes over medium heat until translucent.
  • Add the tomato paste and fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Add water and strained tomatoes and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Stir crushed garlic into the sauce and season with salt, pepper, mint and cinnamon.
  • Add the pita bread to the sauce and stir well once.
