Hummus pasta
Hummus pasta is my latest fusion discovery. The best thing about it is that the recipe is quick and very easy. Basically, it’s like making pasta with pesto and your after-work meal is ready. If you want, you can even modify the recipe really well and adapt it to your own preferences. This way, you’ll always have a new taste experience.
What is hummus pasta?
As the name suggests, hummus pasta is a pasta dish with hummus as a sauce. Instead of pesto or tomato sauce, for example, creamy hummus is added to the pasta and mixed with it. This makes it really creamy and delicious! You can easily vary the recipe if you like. As you can see, you can even cook really well with hummus.
Pasta with hummus is a protein-rich dish thanks to the chickpeas and is also vegan. As the recipe is so quick, it’s really perfect as a quick lunch or dinner. What you can’t do with hummus, right?
The ingredients for pasta with hummus
You don’t need many ingredients for hummus pasta and you can get them in any supermarket of your choice. If you prefer, two ingredients are even enough: Hummus and pasta.
If you want to make it really easy for yourself, then use ready-made hummus – BUT I can’t recommend that! Especially because homemade hummus simply tastes the best and is also quick to make.
I added onions and sun-dried tomatoes in oil to the pasta and then garnished it with some parsley and freshly roasted pine nuts. You can of course expand the recipe and add peppers, chili or fresh cherry tomatoes and spinach, for example.
Pasta with hummus: how to make it!
One reason why I love hummus pasta so much: it’s really quick! This dish is the best choice when you’re really hungry!
- Preparing hummus: I always have hummus in the fridge, but it tastes better fresh. If you have a little more time, I recommend making the hummus fresh. But that is of course optional.
- Fry the onion: I love roasted flavors! That’s why I decided to definitely add onions to the dish and fry them. This simply adds more flavor. You can then add the sun-dried tomatoes to the pan. If you like, you can also fry the onions with the oil from the sun-dried tomatoes.
- Cook the pasta: While you’re busy at the pan, you can put the pasta in the water. Make sure you save some of the pasta water, as you will need it later to make the sauce wonderfully creamy.
- Mix the pasta: You can briefly strain the cooked pasta and then mix it directly with the other ingredients. Don’t forget the pasta water, otherwise mixing will be difficult and the hummus pasta will not be creamy. Finally, you can garnish with a little parsley and pine nuts.
I hope you enjoy trying it out and, of course, bon appétit! Please let me know in the comments how you made your hummus pasta and how you liked it. By the way, I’m always happy to receive a rating for the recipe!
