Falafel Bowl
This falafel bowl is an ingenious mix of healthy ingredients that are really good for your body. And it’s easy to prepare, so you can take the falafel bowl with you for lunch the next day.
Make your own vegetarian bowl with falafel and salad
There was a time when I liked to order a salad bowl for lunch. I didn’t feel like cooking anything in advance, that’s how it is sometimes.
But of course that was expensive and I never liked the falafel in the bowl. However, as I didn’t want to miss out on the colorful bowl, I simply created my own, which I would like to share with you.
This is how the recipe for this colorful, healthy and delicious falafel bowl came about. I basically used everything that has good nutrients and tastes good to me. I was also a little surprised that everything harmonized so well, because sometimes I just want a bit of everything.
The falafel salad bowl is made up of the following ingredients:
- Falafel: Crispy chickpea balls are the star of this colorful bowl.
- Quinoa salad: In addition to the quinoa base, tomatoes, cucumber, parsley, onion and orange are added to the salad. The whole thing is mixed with a lemon-oil dressing.
- Red cabbage salad: The red cabbage is cut into thin strips and marinated with vinegar and oil.
- Yoghurt sauce: To give the falafel something to dip in, add some yoghurt and mint dressing.
You can prepare each individual component as a meal prep the day before and then take it to work for lunch the next day. Don’t pack everything in a Tupperware container, but keep them separately and mix them together on the spot. This way, nothing gets soggy and everything stays fresh.
If you prepare the falafel according to the original recipe, you will have to deep-fry the chickpea balls. This makes this bowl less healthy, of course. However, you can also prepare them in the oven or hot air fryer. This will save you a few calories. Make a few more straight away, because you can freeze falafel.
Have fun preparing the delicious falafel salad bowl and, of course, bon appétit. You can also follow me on Instagram for even more inspiration about Levante cuisine.

The falafel bowl dressing – can also be vegan
Everything in this delicious falafel salad bowl is purely plant-based, except for the dressing. This is made with yogurt. But there are now so many different yoghurt alternatives that you can easily veganize the salad dressing.
However, I recommend using a neutral yogurt alternative such as soy or oat yogurt. Coconut yoghurt can also be delicious, but in my opinion it is not suitable for this falafel dish.
Alternatively, you can also use the classic tahini sauce, which tastes fantastic with the falafel, quinoa and red cabbage salad bowl.
