Zucchini chips from the air fryer
Zucchini chips from the air fryer are a healthy alternative to super greasy potato potato chips – which I really love! Vegetable potato chips are now filling the supermarket shelves and I’ve already tried my hand at them.
The other day I had a large zucchini in the fridge and was craving chips – so I had the wonderful idea of making my own zucchini chips in the airfryer. And they taste just as delicious as the vegetable potato chips from the supermarket.

There I was in the kitchen with the zucchini in my hand, trying to cut it into thin slices. Unfortunately, they didn’t turn out evenly. So I got my square grater out of the cupboard and sliced the rest of the zucchini into thin slices for the chips.
I also recommend using a slicer so that all the slices are the same thickness or thinness. This allows the zucchini chips to roast more evenly in the air fryer.
The thinner the slices, the more likely it is that the zucchini will burn in the air fryer. It is therefore better to check the drawer a few more times when roasting the chips.
How long you need to cook the zucchinis in the air fryer depends entirely on their size and thickness. If you cut the slices a little thicker, the preparation time will be a few minutes longer and the zucchini chips will not be as crispy in the airfryer.
Recipe for zucchini chips from the air fryer
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 Zucchini (ca. 260 g)
- 1/4 Teelöffel Salz
- 1 Teelöffel Olivenöl
Zubereitung
- Zucchini mit einer Reibe in feine Scheiben hobeln oder mit einem Messer in dünne Scheiben schneiden.
- Zucchinischeiben salzen, gut durchmischen und 5 Minuten stehen lassen.
- Mit einem Küchenpapier die Zucchinischeiben trocken tupfen und mit dem Öl vermengen.
- Eingeölte Zucchinischeiben im Behälter der Heißluftfritteuse verteilen und bei 200°C für ca. 15 Minuten knusprig backen. Zwischendurch immer wieder gut verrühren bzw. wenden, da die dünnen Scheiben schnell verbrennen können.
- Zucchinichips nach Belieben würzen und servieren.

Spice mixes for your zucchini chips
Spices are essential for good potato chips – at least for me. I’m simply not satisfied with the taste on its own and I like it when different flavors come together in my mouth.
Take the zucchinis out of the air fryer – here are a few inspirations for an aromatic taste experience!
- Very simple: salt and pepper
- even simpler: Zaatar
- spicy and smoky: smoked paprika, chili flakes, marjoram and salt
- Mediterranean: thyme, rosemary, garlic powder and salt
If you don’t want to enjoy the zucchini chips either seasoned or plain, how about a breading? You can roll them in flour, breadcrumbs or Pankow or (even more delicately) sprinkle them with Parmesan.
If you decide to use breadcrumbs, I advise you to cut the zucchini slices a little thicker.
