Air fryer Halloumi

Halloumi from the hot air fryer is particularly crispy. This means you can not only eat the squeaky cheese as a side dish, but also serve it as a snack or topping for salads or soups.

Halloumi is not just a grilled cheese for the summer, it can be enjoyed all year round and is also delicious with vegetables in a pita or as crispy halloumi from the airfryer.

Deep-frying without fat – how to prepare halloumi in the hot air fryer

Fire up the oven for 1-2 halloumi? That doesn’t make much sense to me. Of course you could fry the cheese in the pan, but it always splatters and doesn’t get crispy evenly.

So it’s time for the Airfryer. Because if I want my food to be healthy and crispy, then the appliance comes into its own. It not only makes halloumi crispy, but also falafel or chickpea snacks.

To prepare the halloumi in the Airfryer, you only need 3 ingredients: Halloumi, olive oil and salt. You could also leave out the oil and salt, as Cypriot cheese is already very salty by nature. But the oil makes it even crispier.

How long does the halloumi take in the air fryer?

For the preparation, you first have to decide whether you want to cut the cheese into slices, strips or cubes. I opted for cubes because I mixed them into my salad. It was pretty tasty and I can only recommend it.

However, I also simply baked a halved halloumi in the airfryer – and it also turned out nice and crispy. Depending on how crispy you like it, you should bake the cheese in the air fryer for approx. 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

Ingredients

  • 225 g Halloumi
  • 1 Teelöffel Olivenöl
  • 1 Prise Salz

Zubereitung

  • Halloumi mit einem Küchenpapier trocken tupfen und in Würfel schneiden.
  • Halloumi mit Öl und Salz vermischen und bei 180°C für 10 Minuten in der Heißluftfritteuse knusprig backen.
  • Halloumi aus der Heißluftfritteuse als Snack oder Beilage servieren.

Refine your halloumi from the Airfryer with spices and herbs

My halloumi recipe is simply basic and should lay the foundation for your creativity. You can add even more flavor to your crispy cheese with herbs and spices.

How about, for example:

  • Zaatar and lemon zest
  • Thyme, rosemary and garlic
  • Paprika, sumac and harissa
