Make your own Dubai chocolate

Making your own Dubai chocolate is easy! There’s really no getting around this trend from Dubai at the moment. This chocolate filled with pistachio cream and kadaifi is going viral on social media. Here you can find out not only what makes this chocolate so special, but also how you can make it yourself.

The hype chocolate: What is Dubai chocolate anyway?

Dubai chocolate is a filled chocolate bar. The filling consists of a pistachio cream, some tahini (sesame butter) and crispy roasted kadaifi (or kadayif).

The chocolate is named after its origin in Dubai, where it was developed by a chocolate company. The high-quality ingredients, especially the pistachio cream, are not only responsible for the intense flavor, but also for the high price.

You can easily make your own Dubai chocolate and either enjoy it yourself or give it as a luxurious gift for birthdays or Christmas.

To make Dubai chocolate yourself, you only need 6 ingredients.

  • Chocolate: You can decide for yourself whether you prefer whole milk, dark or a mixture of the two.
  • Pistachio cream: The pistachio cream gives the bar its unmistakable taste.
  • Kadaifi: Also known as kadayif or angel hair, the thin threads of dough (available online or in Arabic/Turkish supermarkets) are roasted until crispy and provide the crunchiness of the filling.
  • Butter: To bring out even more flavor, the dough strings are roasted in butter.
  • Tahini: The sesame paste gives the filling a subtle nutty flavor.
  • Salt: A pinch of salt in chocolate or in desserts in general enhances the taste of the ingredients.

How do you make Dubai chocolate? 4 steps to the perfect bar!

Making Dubai chocolate yourself is very easy and basically you only need these four steps and you’re done quickly and easily:

  1. Melt the chocolate and pour into the molds.
  2. Roast the kadayif.
  3. Mix the filling.
  4. Fill with chocolate.

Once you are ready, simply place the bar in the mold in the fridge for approx. 30 to 60 minutes and your Dubai chocolate is ready. And if you fancy a really tasty dessert, then try the Dubai Chocolate Dessert!

Recipe: Make your own Dubai chocolate

Equipment

  • 2 Silicone molds for chocolate (25 cm x 13.3 cm x 2.2 cm)

Ingredients

  • 200 g Dark chocolate
  • 100 g Milk chocolate
  • 180 g Cadaifi
  • 30 g Butter
  • 150 g Pistachio cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Tahini
  • 1 Pinch Salt

Zubereitung

  • Roughly chop the chocolate and melt 2/3 over a bain-marie while stirring.
  • Remove the bowl of melted chocolate from the pan and stir in the remaining chocolate until smooth.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into the silicone mold and swirl back and forth so that the entire mold is lined with chocolate. Chill the mold in the fridge for approx. 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, pluck the kadaifi apart or cut roughly.
  • Melt the butter in a pan and add the kadaifi. Fry over a medium heat until golden brown. Stir occasionally so that nothing burns.
  • Mix the angel hair with the pistachio cream, tahini and salt in a bowl while still warm.
  • The mixture should have cooled and can then be placed in the silicone mold (leave 1-2 millimeters of space at the top, as there will be another layer of chocolate on top). Chill again for approx. 15 minutes.
  • As soon as the mixture has set, spread the remaining chocolate over the pistachio mixture. Chill again for approx. 30-60 minutes.
  • When the chocolate is firm, it can be removed from the silicone mold.

Storing Dubai chocolate – What you need to keep in mind

If you don’t want to enjoy the Dubai chocolate bar straight away, you should store it in a cool, dry place.

You can wrap them in aluminum foil and store them in the fridge, for example. This will keep them nice and fresh and crispy.

Dubai chocolate can be kept for approx. 1 month if stored properly.
